The Team

Sarah Anne Adams

Sarah Adams is ½ of The Monthly Junk!

She’s a director, writer, actress and TV Hobbyist. Her day job(s) include directing and writing commercials, acting in national TV ads (please don’t fast forward through her), trying to get her toddler to wear pants and most recently to get her baby to stop chewing on her hair.

Sarah is a Virgo with Leo rising and a 3W2 - basically a creative type A.  Dreamy.

You can tell a lot from a person by knowing their favorites so, here’s a quick run down of her’s:

TV Shows: Parks and Recreation, Ted Lasso, Real Housewives

Food: Chips and queso, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

Comedic Influences: Tina Fey, Christopher Guest, Amy Poehler

She’s focused on details. Characters are king. Everything she places on screen is with intention and purpose. She believes in ‘yes, and’ on set.

Other directing/writing projects include the independent short series ’Supporting Roles’ (Austin Film Festival, Short Sweet Film Fest, HollyWeb) the short ’The Service Elevator’ (USA Film Festival, Women’s Texas Film Festival), the short ‘Civic Duty’ (Lone Star Film Festival, Women’s Texas Film Festival), ' the short ‘Doula’ (No Coast Film Fest, MOM Film Festival, Houston Comedy Festival, Austin Micro Film Festival) and lots of random sketches from 2013-2019.

Maggie Rieth Austin

Maggie Rieth Austin is ½ of The Monthly Junk!

Hailing from Rochester, New York, Maggie Rieth Austin is a Texan by accident and a filmmaker by trade.

Maggie received her B.S. in Radio-Television-Film from The University of Texas at Austin, fulfilling a childhood dream of making movies and spending a ridiculous amount of money on a degree. She began performing and writing comedy in 2011 at Dallas Comedy House (DCH) where she met Sarah and the rest is history.

She has showcased at festivals across the country for improv, sketch performance, storytelling, and, of course, short films. In 2022 she was a finalist at the Houston Comedy Film Festival for Best Director for her directorial debut with The Monthly Junk short DOULA.

In addition to making up funny stories, Maggie is a mother to three children, a wife to fellow comedian and actor Kyle Austin, and runs point on communication and projects for the Dallas-based women+ non-profit FearLess. In her spare time, she watches lots of Real Housewives and likes to doodle.

Maggie is currently unrepresented, but you could change that.
